Ashley brings to the firm’s litigation practice a perspective shaped by her work within the New York courts. Our clients and our colleagues benefit from the insight she gained evaluating legal arguments and evidentiary submissions from the other side of the bench: it informs a careful approach to case assessment and the focused presentation of our clients’ positions.
Before joining Strikowsky Drachman & Shapiro PLLC, Ashley served as an Assistant Law Clerk in the Civil Division of the New York State Supreme Court in Brooklyn. She researched complex issues of New York law, prepared bench memoranda and drafted judicial decisions and orders, while assisting with hearings, conferences and the administration of trials. She also co-presented continuing legal education programs addressing diverse issues such as New York citation practices and the serious injury threshold in automobile accident litigation.
Ashley’s earlier experience includes a judicial internship in the New York City Civil Court, and clinical work supporting federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York. Through Cardozo Law School’s Forensic Science Freedom Field Clinic, she studied forensic evidence and expert witness admissibility while participating in investigations, research and pro bono litigation. Ashley credits this background for contributing to a keen understanding of why it is important to actively steward the factual record and the evidentiary questions that shape litigation outcomes.
At the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Ashley served as Articles Editor of the Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal, and, as a teaching assistant for an introductory United States law course for LL.M. students. Ashley is fluent in Russian.
